Alex Windsor defeated Marina Shafir to retain the NJPW Women's Strong Championship
Grade: C+
Hopefully we get better as the show goes on today!
Kamille defeated Big Anne! (who?)
Grade: C (only because it's great to see Kamille back and actually wrestling)
I mean, Kamille has to join Divine Dominion, right?
Jack Perry defeated Mark Davis to retain the AEW National Championship
Grade: B
Davis damn near killed Perry. Davis is so good and he's still wrestling with his cast on his wrist from when he hurt it during a match about a month ago. Tough son of a bitch. Perry was way over with the fans and comes away with the win!
Divine Dominion defeated Hyan and Maya World
Grade: B+
You have to smile at the story of Hyan and Maya World and smile even more if you remember the whole story. They held their own in this match, and it was easily their best showing so far in AEW. LOVE IT! This division is so deep now!
The Young Bucks defeated Konosuke Takeshita and Kazuchika Okada
Grade: A
That was an amazing match. I don't think anyone figured it wouldn't be with those four performers, but wow. They did a great job slowing the dissolution of Okada and Takeshita, but tonight, it was Takeshita leave Okada to get the spike piledriver. Absolutely amazing match that will be a contender for for Match of the Night.
Ricochet defeated Chris Jericho
Grade: B
Good to see Jericho back and the fans went crazy for him in Canada. But he did spend a lot of the time pandering to the crowd to cheer more. And while he was able to play the wily veteran, he was about five steps behind Ricochet. The shooting star press by Ricochet into the Code Breaker was insane. It was somewhat shocking to see Jericho lose his return match. Does this have to do with his new character? Intriguing. Putting over that younger talent, hey?
Darby Allin defeated Andrade El Idolo to gain a future World title shot
Grade: A-
These two had a great contrast of styles. The flamboyant, machiso of Andrade versus the reckless, daredevil moves of Darby Allin. The competitors hit very hard on many occasions. Though Andrade was ahead on points, Darby walks away with the victory and future title shot. Andrade raised Darby's hand after the match. Darby appeared to be in real pain afterwards. He took some sick bumps, though.
FTR defeated Adam Copeland and Christian Cage to defend the AEW World Tag Team Championship
Grade: A-
I am probably not the only one shocked that FTR walked out with the titles tonight. It was a hard-fought match by both teams who really laid it out. Cope took a brutal belt shot that made him bleed profusely. Cage was thrown into the timekeeper's table and never got back up. Despite them cheating all through the match, the victory was acquired with a legal finisher. What happens to C+C from here?
Kevin Knight won the Casino Gauntlet Match to win the vacant TNT Championship
Grade: B+
These matches are always so much fun. Order of entrants: Tommaso Ciampa, RUSH, Bandido, El Clon, Mike Bailey, Pac, Kevin Knight, Daniel Garcia, and Wheeler Yuta. Everyone did a great job and had a chance to be featured. Bandido, El Clon, RUSH, and Pac stood out. But it was Kevin Knight, who has had quite a six months, that walks aways with a new title. Congratulations to the Jet!
Thekla defeated Jamie Hayter to retain the AEW World Championship
Grade: B
Great match between the two ladies! Thekla continues to impress, and that was probably Hayter's best singles match in quite a long time. Thekla adds another victim to her spider's web. Is Mone calling next?
Jon Moxley defeated Will Ospreay to retain the AEW Continental Championship
Grade: A-
Will Ospreay started the match hitting two Hidden Blades, but that was arguably the most momentum he had in this one. It did go back and forth, but Ospreay did a great job selling his neck injury, something Jon Moxley was all too eager to exploit with Death Riders, Paradigm Shifts, and Curb Stomps. Ospreay was beaten down and finally succumbed to the leader of the Death Riders. It should be mentioned that since this was under Continental Rules, Moxley did beath Ospreay fairly and with no interference or shortcuts. It was a down a notch or two from a typical Ospreay match, but we'll just assume (and hope) it's from the neck storyline.
The Conglomeration (Cassidy, Strong, and O'Reilly) defeated The Dogs to win the AEW World Trios Championships
Grade: B
With the shocking return of Kyle O'Reilly, I have to assume this was the plan all along, but with the Dogs just winning these belts 24 hours before, it seems odd. It appeared that Gabe Kidd severely injured his hand or wrist, as he was collapsing in pain when there was no one else near him. Additionally, The Conglomeration left him alone after a certain amount of time. He didn't appear to be out there at all at the end of the match. He may have left when I grabbed a drink. I'm not sure. Either way, O'Reilly wins gold in his first match back. I'm not mad about these three long-time workhorses for AEW winning some gold, but what why did the Dogs win to begin with? To take the belts off Kevin Knight?
MJF defeated Kenny Omega to retain the AEW World Championship
Grade: A
What a grind of a main event. We typically get something more hardcore or aerial, but this was purely a grind between two phenomenal athletes. Kenny played up his stomach being hurt, but there did seem to be a five-minute period where Kenny seemed dizzy and glass eyed. But this was a pure war. Each man hit their finisher, including an impressive avalanche One-Winged Angel by Omega. Omega eventually hit Bryce Remsburg with a V-Trigger, knocking Remsburg out. MJF dug in the referee's pocket to get the Dynamite Diamond Ring, but Omega hit another One-Winged Angel and the audience counted to seven before another referee came down and MJF kicked out. Then he used the ring to hit Omega in the ribs and piledrive him through a table at ringside before finally getting the 1, 2, 3. It wasn't pretty, but it stood out for how different it was than a Swerve/Hangman/Ospreay-style match. Pure attrition. And that's Dynasty!

BOOM & DOOM w/Big Justice and The Rizzler defeated The Infantry
Grade: C-
Most people are probably sick of seeing The Costco Guys on AEW PPV pre-shows, but I think they are harmless as long as they are the kickoff and bring in celebrities like Wayne Brady or Paul Wight. This grade is mostly for entertainment value, as always with these matches.
Willow Nightingale defeated Lena Kross to retain the AEW TBS Championship
Grade: B
A solid matchup between two beautiful beasts of beatdowns! Willow made Kross look stronger than she probably is, but with how tall Kross is, it helps the myth. Willow may have suffered a kayfabe shoulder injury that might come into place later, and I'm more convinced than ever that the Babes are losing tonight.
Jack Perry outlasted the field to win the AEW National Championship
Grade: B-
You can't have a battle royale that involves no more than four men in the ring at a time. It was very hard to tell who was in and who was out. For a split second, I thought maybe El Clon might win since Callis just said they were winning all the belts, but in the end it came down to the rivalry between Perry and Ricochet.
FTR defeated The Young Bucks to retain the AEW Tag Team Championship
Grade: A
Dear Lord, what a war. Blood was spewing early, family got involved, both teams hit their finishers and the other teams finishers. Dax and Nick bled. A lot! Stokely attempted to get involved. These two teams continue to prove why they are the greatest tag teams of our generation. Afterwards Cope and Christian made their returns. Amazing match that will be hard to top later in this card.
Toni Storm defeated Marina Shafir
Grade: B-
Marina continues to be a better character than she is wrestler, but that's still better than where she was a year ago. Toni no sooner vanquishes her demon (after doing some, uh, questionable biting on Shafir) than a new challenger appeared in the form of Ronda Rousey--who appears to also be affiliated with the Death Riders!
Jon Moxley defeated Konosuke Takeshita to retain the AEW Continental Championship
Grade: A
Both men gave it everything they have in what was an amazing match! Blood was flowing, people were biting, and it went even harder from there. Power move after power move, hit after hit. These two always perform and there was no doubt it would be awesome here! Afterward Will Ospreay returns and attacks the Death Riders! Great to see him back in action!
Divine Dominion defeated The Babes of Wrath to win the AEW Tag Team Championships
Grade: C
With Willow hurt, there could be no other option to end this. Megan Bayne has been denied for so long and would have been dumped on if they couldn't even defeat an injured WIllow Nightingale. I'm so happy for Bayne, but I do feel absolutely terrible for Penelope Ford, who misses out yet again. They even changed the tag team name on her! Revenge story?
Swerve Strickland defeated Brody King
Grade: B
For two big, tough guys being in a match, it seemed like they were always on the top turnbuckle fighting. Brody took a sick vertebreaker on the floor. He withstood two House Calls, but the third took him out. Swerve picked up the win and then threatened to smash Brody's head on a cinder block until Kenny Omega came out to make the save!
Thekla defeated Kris Statlander to retain the AEW World Championship
Grade: A-
Thekla won the first fall, pinning Kris Statlander when the referee couldn't see Statlander under the rope. Statlander was really outwrestled in this one for the first two falls. Stat won the second fall with Staturday Night Fever. Paul Turner went down and Thekla took his belt. Statlander took the belt and hit Thekla over and over. The Sisters of Sin slid into the ring, but Statlander took them out with the belt as well. Paul Turner returned and took the belt from Kris Statlander. Thekla hit the spear and two curb stomps to win the match and retain the title. That was one of the better women's matches in a long time.
Mistico and Jet Speed defeated The Don Callis Family (Okada, Davis, and Fletcher)
Grade: A
All six men had great moments in this match. Bailey and Knight have received high praise from us in recent weeks for their work ethic and that continued here. Mark Davis was also super impressive, playing the strong man in a field full of technical and flying wrestlers. There was so much to love about this match. And afterwards, it was revealed that Mistico was All Elite!
Andrade El Idolo defeated Bandido
Grade: A
These two suplexed the hell out of each other. Man! Andrade just won our All Elite award for yesterday's Collision and he kept up the pace tonight. Bandido has impressed for over a year. Andrade's moonsault over the turnbuckle to the outside was crazy. Fans began shouting, "This is awesome!" That fallaway flip slam Bandido does off the top turnbuckle always blows my mind! After a few finishing moves back and forth, the DM off the middle turnbuckle secured the win for Bandido. Andrade is hot in AEW!
Orange Cassidy, Roderick Strong, and Darby Allin defeated The Dogs
Grade: B
I'm very surprised David Finley took a loss this soon into his AEW tenure. Darby Allin took the most vicious spear since Goldberg's heyday. Lots of punishment in this match, with Darby being chained to the corner early and Gabe Kidd getting ziptied to the ramp later. Still, Roderick and Orange worked well together and Darby was Darby.
MJF defeated Adam Page
Grade: A+
Dear God. Not since Swerve v. Adam Page at All Out 2024, which I had the *pleasure* of being at in person, have we seen violence like this. The needle came back. The glass. The barbed wire. The tables. The chairs. The stapler. This isn't a match that will appeal to everyone, and you could tell many in attendance got real uneasy when the needle was sticking through Hangman's cheek. This isn't likely to make new wrestling fans, but for us old school hardcore fans, it is a throwback to a bygone era that we'd see in ECW.
The piledrivers through the tables looked sick. The first table didn't snap right away. The second table had Hangman's head go right through to the ground. After all the violence, they went back to swinging in the middle of the ring. It was very unclear who would win for most of the match. MJF countered a Buckshot Lariat with an eye poke. The light tubes took it to a whole other level. MJF's back was full of glass in the same shape as a light tube. And then came skewers! Oh my! MJF looked like Pinhead and Hangman hit a Buckshot Lariat.
Then a double dog collar chain came out! Holy hell! Another table set up and now a barbed wire board set up. My God. They went through a soundboard and Hangman walked MJF like a dog. Hangman went for a third Buckshot and he was choked out by MJF and couldn't answer the ten count. Hangman will never challenge for the title again, and MJF remains our champion.
Final Grade: A-
Reflecting on this for two days, I have to say this was a great PPV. Not in my top five of AEW of all-time, but very solid from top to bottom. The final match has the unenviable task of following a wide array of styles, including hardcore matches we had already seen. Still, Hangman and MJF did everything they could to basically do an homage to every type of hardcore match. It was hard to watch at times, and I mean that in the best way. Tomorrow should be interesting.
All Elite Award: "Hangman" Adam Page
This is one of those rare times when our award is going to go to the guy that lost the match. Adam Page can't challenge for a World Championship going forward. However, he carried this match just a bit more than MJF. For most of the match, MJF was actually the victimn getting his ass beat. Hangman told the story, tried his best, and came up short. He may have lost the match, but he won our hearts. Well done, Sir.
